Hi my name is Alexander Simpson-Laing, I am a concept artist, mostly working freelance at the moment. My skills are in 3D and 2D concept work, story boarding, and project management, Zbrush, Maya and Photoshop. My all-time favorite is paper and pencil, sketching my ideas down anytime anywhere. I love the challenge and I feel with everything we do, even if it falls apart, greatness can still soar from it.

 

        I am currently living in Indiana with my family. I spent my formative years in England, moved to Switzerland then Germany before arriving in America where I met my wife and continued my education at IUPUI. I feel that with my multicultural heritage  I can bring many fresh ideas and unique creations to the work table. I graduated with a  Bachelor in Media arts and Science in May of 2015 at Indiana University. My ambition is to develop my career in the Entertainment Industry where I can use my creative skills. 

 

        All good artists strive for perfection and I'm certainly no exception. I love working with others to share ideas and build greatness out of the clay of creation. I believe that when we work as a team and everyone is passionate about creating our opus magnum we will deliver a mythical and timeless experience for all to enjoy. 

 

        So I bet you are wondering who I am and why I create such bizarre art. Well let me tell you, I can quickly grasp a concept,  sketch it in seconds, build it in minutes and forge it in hours. I welcome critique of my work as it helps me to transform my concept into something tangible. To me, art is a living and breathing entity and laws have to be applied for art to flourish; by discovering these restrictions I have managed to unlock my inner creative abilities. I have thereby experienced much of the hardships and pleasures that is given in being an artist.

        Hobbies I have many from exploring the wonders of the kitchen down to the slaying of dragons and characterizing micro organisms as well as tie my shoelaces. I have fallen in love with crazy antics of various people whom have inspired me to be who I am today Monty python, Red Dwarf, Young Ones, Black Adder, H R Giger, Robin Williams, Rik Mail, Tim Curry. I love dark humor and find that if you dont laugh at life, life will only laugh back at you, so join in the fun and laugh at yourself because no one else will.
